Reality Warper

At last, got my first work of 2017 done!  This took me a lot longer than usual to finish. For one, the hair was a huge problem. Because of how flyaway it was, it was hard to extract it neatly from the background, and to top it off, it looked awful when you just smudged it. I tried drawing hair, but because I haven't quite mastered that, it didn't work out. Finally settled on hair stock, and I tried my best to make it flyaway a bit like the model's real hair while still keeping it elegant. 

The setting also was tricky, because I usually try to do elegant and magical scenes. With this one, I needed something a little funky and psychedelic, which is something I haven't done before. I was concerned for awhile that the entire scene would dissolve into a royal mess. I used  three filters from G'MIC to get the background to come out the way it is now, and played around with the colors a bit. The lightning and squares were an afterthought that actually turned out better than I hoped. 

I'm still not sure if I could have done better, but I got tired of tweaking it day after day. It doesn't look like a mess, thank God. Least I hope it doesn't, XD. But anyway, here it is!
